You must pay attention to email marketing if you are serious about your blog. Talking about tools, no tool is free when you have a lot of subscribers. A lot of subscribers mean more chances to make money. The first thing is to collect emails. I personally use Bloom from Elegant Themes. For sending out emails, I won’t recommend you buy something even when you don’t have subscribers. You can start for free with MailChimp until you reach 2k subscribers.

Great tips. Now I should really get into email marketing and stop ignoring the obvious benefits… What tools should I try? Is there one tool that I might need? Or several? I keep hearing about software such as Mailchimp or GetResponse. I’ve heard that the first one is not exactly free if you have a lot of subscribers?

You are actually missing the whole point. People still subscribe to the websites where they find useful content. Talking about freebies, offer them something they desperately need. It’s a bit hard to find for your niche though, still there are a lot of things you can do. The best tip I can give is to follow some famous blogs similar to your niche. Observe how they are getting subscriptions and what freebies are they offering, if any. You will get an idea 🙂

Aqib, thanks for sharing this. I still haven’t put that call to action on my site. I don’t subscribe to any bloggers sites because I get so much spam already. With millions of blogs online, that’s a lot of subscriptions. I’d like to know how having an email list of subscribers will ultimately help our blogs. Is it simply to retain readership or am I missing the whole point? Also, my niche is mom/family travel. What sorts of freebies should I be offering? Thanks!
